Our measures for energy and resources
At Van der Valk Hotel Nuland - ’s-Hertogenbosch, comfort and sustainability are central. As a proud sustainable hotel in Den Bosch, we bear the Green Key certification, which means that we consciously manage energy, water, and the environment. So you can enjoy a delightful stay with respect for people and nature.
At Hotel Nuland, we work in various ways to reduce our energy and resource consumption. We opt for concrete measures in and around the hotel. Below you can read which measures we have taken and which improvements are currently being implemented or prepared.
Saving energy and generating energy
In the hotel, various technical measures have been applied to limit energy use.
The hotel has solar panels present to generate electricity.
We use heat pumps as part of our energy supply.
From our energy audit concrete energy-saving measures have been established. An action plan has been drawn up with which we want to further reduce energy use.
Opportunities to further reduce energy use are also considered during work and renovation projects.
Processing food waste with the CIRC Biotransformer
A specific measure within Hotel Nuland is the use of the CIRC Biotransformer.
Food waste from the hotel is processed in this instead of being disposed of as regular waste. The organic material is processed into, among other things, biogas. This biogas can be used as part of our gas supply and thus contributes to reducing the use of natural gas.
In this way, we link the processing of food waste to the hotel's energy supply. The goal is to reduce the use of fossil gas and the associated COâ‚‚ emissions.
Recovering heat
The hotel's technical installations release heat. Part of this heat is captured and reused, among other things, for the production of hot water for the hotel.
By reusing available heat, the use of other heat sources can be limited. Thus, heat recovery is part of our measures to reduce the hotel's energy use.
Separating waste and processing food waste
We separate different waste streams within the hotel. In addition, food waste is collected separately and processed via the CIRC Biotransformer.
In our daily operations, we also pay attention to the use of materials and packaging. In our purchasing, we take into account the consumption and amount of packaging material.
Works and renovation
Hotel Nuland is currently carrying out various works and renovation projects. It is not a general renovation of the entire hotel, but work on different parts and locations, including the façade. Energy-saving improvements are also incorporated in these works where possible.
Our approach
Our measures are not isolated. By generating energy, using energy and heat more efficiently, processing food waste, separating waste streams, and considering energy savings during works, we work step by step to reduce the use of energy and resources.
Our energy audit forms an important basis for further energy-saving measures. We continue to assess the possibilities within the hotel and implement measures when they are technically and practically feasible.
